The Roland Sound Canvas as waveblaster extension board. It is GM/GS comaptible and can also be set to MT-32 instrument mapping. It is also fully compatible with the external Sound Canvas SC-55 MK II.
The Sound Canvas is in a lot of cases the reference synthesizer for old DOS games.
